Grains of Peace

We are a diverse group of people who act and focus on how to share human values together as opposed to focussing on what could differentiate, separate and divide us.

Our inspiration: the conviction that it is possible to help people become more fully conscious of their human values and help them develop effective reflexes of peace in the face of violence - in our surroundings and in the world.

The mission of Grains of Peace:  

• bring the spark that can help each person become aware of his/her internal resources for peace    

• imagine and propose ideas and aids that can help each person develop these

Grains of Peace communicates in three ways:

• through its website, specially designed to stimulate ideas and thought processes on these topics  

• via its on-the-ground actions and programs for children, teens and adults (direct and via partners)  

• via dialogue-based events - encounters designed to discover, bring together and share ideas.

Where is the place of Grains of Peace amongst the NGOs and facilitators that strive to bring practical solutions to counter the increase in violence? Herewith some of the aspects that differentiate us.

Herewith is what defines us and what we're not in terms of:

• Humanist and humanitarian objectives

• Welcome and help-type activities

• Political positioning

• Religion and sect positioning

Our goal is to imagine, create and organise a wide range of activities that help people refocus on human values and develop "peace reflexes"  when faced with violence, in ways that can contribute to peace in a lasting way.

In view of this goal, we propose paths to sensitise people, young and less young, to the unacceptability of violence - be it small-scale (violence at home, at work, in the streets) or large-scale (civil strife, wars)."

This Charter is the fundamental guide by which members of Grains of Peace engage themselves

• in encouraging the respect and appreciation of human beings, in a spirit of tolerance, mutual understanding and peace.    

• in helping others realise that violence is unacceptable in all its manifestations.

Our firm conviction is that transmitting these essential human values at the earliest age is one of the most effective means to overcome violence.

This Charter is our permanent reference for our actions and our responsibilities.
It is designed to provide inspiring guidance between members and with the outside world.
We hope it will inspire you and many more persons around us and in the world.

Grains of Peace is at the service of organizations and independent specialists that seek new tools to deal with violence and help individuals and groups, which are violent or have been assaulted, to transform themselves.
