20.9.09-2.10.09 - FORTNIGHT for PEACE and NON-VIOLENCE

A packed program of events and activities is offered to mark and celebrate World Peace Day (21.09.09) and World Non-Violence Day (2.10.09).

This program is the fruit of the collaboration of more than twenty NGOs that have met as an action group for peace and non-violence since October 2008.

This year, the majority of the activities will take place in Geneva, with a few also in Lausanne…


Highlights of the program :

- Sunday 20 September 2pm-4pm:
Celebration of World Peace Day, in Parc Bertrand, Geneva. Find a festive, serene and countryside atmosphere, with activities, games and tales for peace and non-violence awareness, as well as many more activities including artists and student artists who will illustrate peace quotes.

- Monday 21 September, World Peace Day, 6pm to 10pm
Debate/Conference: The place of peace in the new constitution of Geneva, with the participation of 17 speaker: 9 constituents and 8 well-known figures.

- Saturday 26 September, 2pm – 10pm:
Open day with workshops on reflection, films and debates at the Maison des Associations of Geneva.

- Friday 2 October, evening:
Debate/Conference on real applications of non-violent actions, with a speakerfrom India, Rajagopal (NGO Ektaparishad).
